About TapWaterMap

TapWaterMap is an independent project that makes the EPA's public drinking-water data easier to read. When people search for their city's tap water, they usually find either alarming blog posts or dense government PDFs. We aim for the calm middle: the EPA's own records, translated into plain English, with the source shown every time.

Who runs it

TapWaterMap is built and operated by Squidcode, a small software studio based in California. We are not a water-testing lab, a filter company, or a government agency, and we have no affiliation with the EPA. We are the transparent operators of a data-translation site — that is exactly what these pages are.

What we believe about this topic

How we make money

The site is supported by advertising, and some pages may include affiliate links to water filters. Advertising never changes what the EPA data says, and we do not recommend a filter on the basis of fear. See our Disclaimer for details.

Corrections

If you believe a page misreads the EPA's data, tell us and we will check it against the source. Our full method is on the Methodology page.
